Putting Products in the Right Place
Manufacturing companies have large and complicated equipment in their factories and operation floors like a sortation system. This is true for not only manufacturer of supplies, clothing, and shoes but also for food. These machinery help in making the products itself, putting together the different parts, packaging, sealing and label printing. For all these types of machinery needs, there are companies that specialize in making them and selling such to other businesses for production use.
For companies manufacturing multiple products or a variety of just one product, a sortation system is necessary. This separates different materials, colors or variants of whatever is being produced. Eventually, the packaging and labeling will also be different for each variant. There are different classes of sortation systems that businesses can use. Depending on needs of speed, cost, product types, there is a specific type of conveyor sortation system that will be an ideal fit.
Cleated belt pushers are best for small and medium sized products like cosmetics and pharmaceutical types. These belt pushers can divert at right angles and onto chutes at rates ranging from low to medium, covering a number of 120 items per minute. This sortation system is also excellent for irregular and a little bit larger shaped cartons.
A consolidation sort on the other hand puts together products into a single line. Eventually, these products will go to different multiple pick up zones. Finally, a cross belt sortation is a more economical kind which can be used when there are generally smaller spaces. These can handle a good number of different product sizes and weights.
